The Rewards of Persuasion!

A few days ago, the kids heard me talking to Ben about how the State firefighters convention was here in Price and that they were going to be have fireworks later in the evening. I asking him if he thought we should go. We were both a little undecided because it would mean that we would not get home until pretty late. Our kiddos did their best to persuade us to go, and I am glad that they did. The State of Utah has recently changed its firework laws allowing members of the state to now purchase once illegal fireworks and shoot them off.
I will have to admit that a seven year old can be very convincing!
Cecilia had a great time!
Julia was a little scared because we happened to park right next to where they were shooting them off. The fireworks burst just above our heads!

It was incredible what types of fireworks are now legal!

In Memory

As I have grown up Memorial Day has changed for me. It used to mean a day driving around Idaho and Utah hearing my parents reminisce about people and times that I was not familiar with. I enjoyed spending time with family and usually having a barbeque. Now that I am older it is my children that drive with me to visit those who have gone on before us. It is a special day to think of the sacrifices of those who have served us and our country. I have many loved ones who have passed on, and I think of them dearly throughout the year. I am glad that we have this wonderful day set aside to slow down and ponder the past and the future.
Julia was named after two different Great-Grandmothers named Julia. She is next to one of their graves in this picture.
Cecilia enjoyed being able to help put flowers on the graves. This picture would have been perfect without my shadow in it!
Benson is sitting behind my grandfather's gravestone. Benson's middle name is also Vinton.

Part Two

I made my last end of the year post before Benson was done with school. I wanted to post some pictures from his last few days of school. He had a school field day and a class program.
Yes....my son is wearing a skirt! Well at least he was for a few minutes! It was part of a relay race at the schools field day activity.
Cecilia could have participated, but she wanted to watch most of the activities.
Wow!!! What a mess!
Can anyone say, "LIMBO!"
The girls participated in a water game together!
Benson loved the giant slide!
The Kindergartners were out of school early, and so Julia went around with Benson's class.
This was kind of like a dunk machine. If the other person hit the target the person on the chair had a downpour of water dumped on them!
Somebody just got Benson wet!
Julia waiting for Benson's 1st grade program to start.
The class getting ready for the end of year program.
Benson loved his teacher Mrs. Broadbear! He learned so much this year!
